Maria (she/her)
My name is Maria, and I’m originally from Denmark. After spending five years studying psychology, I moved to the U.S. and began teaching clinical psychology to inmates in correctional facilities. Witnessing the immense trauma within the prison system, I realized I had to make a better effort to bring healing into the world. However, I noticed something missing in the mental and emotional health sphere: the connection to the body and nervous system. This realization led me to pursue my first yoga teacher training in India in 2018.
A few years later, I faced a years-long debilitating illness that left me in shambles and unable to do much. Through many rough learnings, spontaneous spiritual moments, and a deep desire to heal myself, I came out on the other side with a newfound understanding of true healing. I now see this as my baptism into helping others on their journeys through holistic healing. From experience, I don’t believe in the saying, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Instead, I believe that the path of healing—whether physical, spiritual, mental, or emotional— ultimately makes you come more alive, softly resilient, and in harmony with your inner wisdom.
I’ve had the privilege of studying various somatic and embodied modalities across the globe, continually inspired by the beauty of this world and the genuine souls I meet along the way. My purpose is to share my love for yoga in a way that feels human and wholesome. I strive to teach classes that are seamless and flowy, with the intention of leaving students feeling energetically nourished.
